5 great spots to shoot in York

Heading to York soon? Here are some great spots to get the best photos 📷

York City Walls

The walls are a great way to see all of the city, and also to get THE shot for the ‘gram. For this gorgeous angle (as demonstrated by the equally gorgeous Melissa from Girl Around the World) join the trail at the Lendal Bridge entrance.

Shambles

Have you even been to York if you don’t get a Shambles pic? TIP: get there just after sunrise if you want to beat the crowds and have space to nail the shot.

York Minster

It’s a York landmark and just a beautiful building all round. Remember that it is an active place of worship, so if you’re wanting to do a full content shoot it’ll be best to stay outside to cause the least amount of disturbance!

Spark

There’s got to be a food stop in here somewhere, and it’s definitely Spark! It’s a container village filled with delicious street food and independent businesses and during the winter it has been awash with bright colours and tropical decoration under the stretch canopy. In the summer it’s all open, and has definite sunshine vibes 😎

Grays Court

This was a special one being York’s oldest inhabited house, built in 1091! It’s tucked down an unassuming side-street and boasts beautiful decor and a walled garden. However, this one isn’t actually somewhere you can just rock up and have tea - if you want to shoot in spaces like this then you’ll just have to drop me a message and book a shoot 😉

If you only have a few days in a city you don’t want to waste time trying to make sure you get THE shot everywhere you go - you want to be present and experience everything on offer! So in order to make sure Melissa could truly visit York on her short trip, we were able to squeeze all of these photo opps (and more!) into one morning, meaning that she could focus on just enjoying herself the rest of the time.

Next time you visit York, why not consider booking a shoot to capture all of the memories you create there?
